Bread Pudding (Žemlovka)

4 eggs

2/3 cup sugar

½ teaspoon salt

4 cups scalded milk

6 cups soft bread pieces (approximately 10 slices)


Raisins, thinly sliced apples or nuts optional


Place eggs, sugar, nutmeg, salt in a bowl and beat until foamy. Slowly add scalded milk. Add bread pieces and fold mixture until all of the bread is evenly soaked. Place mixture in 2 greased bread loaf pans. Place pans in a larger pan with hot water. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes.
