4 potatoes
salt
flour (best to use Wondra brand)
bacon or ham cut in pieces
10 oz sauerkraut
1 onion.
Bring a pot of salted water to boil. Meanwhile peel, wash and grind potatoes, add salt and flour to make a thicker dough. Press dough through a larger sieve to form a pea sized pieces.
Drop few of the halusky in boiling water. If the halusky come out soggy add more flour to the rest of the dough. Cook the rest of the halusky. When halusky are done they rise to top of water. Take them out with a strainer and allow to drain.
Fry bacon, remove bacon pieces and add chopped onion to the fat. Once onion start turning pink, add drained sauerkraut, pepper and cook until soft.
Mix halusky and sauerkraut. Sprinkle bacon over the top.
