Dear members and friends of the Czech and Slovak community,
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution, The Czech School San Diego together with The Bishop’s School and Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles request the honor of your presence at a panel discussion with leaders of the student protesters in 1989 Mr. Jan Bubeník and Ambassador-at-Large for Energy Security Václav Bartuška, author and poet James Ragan, and Tatiana Gregor Brzobohatá, Miss World 2006, Charity leader and United Nations Ambassador.
The panel debate "The Velvet Revolution 30 Year Later: Promises, Legacies, and Challenges" will be held in English language on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at the Bishop’s School in La Jolla and will be moderated by the Bishop’s School Faculty and Mr. Jiří Krátký, Special Envoy for Expatriate Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
The panelists will recall the dynamics of the Revolution and the subsequent transition to democracy, as well as the contemporary political challenges in the Czech Republic and Central Europe. Reception with light refreshments and music by a Czech saxophone player Daniel Otis to follow. An exhibition of photographs depicting the events of 1989 will be on display.
